Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the descendants of William Dawes (1745-1799), who rode on 18 April 1775 with two other men into Boston, Lexington, and Concord to warn the patriots that the British were about to attack. William had a brother named Elisha. They were sons of William Dawes (1719-1802) and Lydia Boone. William (who rode) was the great-great grandson of immigrants, William Dawes and Susannah Mills who left England in 1635 to settle in Boston. William (who rode) married Mehitable May. After Mehitable died, William married Lydia Gendell. He had two surviving sons, William Mears Dawes and Charles May Dawes. Some descendants lived in Manitoba (Canada), and in California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and elsewhere.

Also includes Abbott, Beith, Boone, Bumstead, Friese, Flood, Goddard, King, McMacken, Mills, Story, and other related families.

Numbering irregularities: Vol. 12 no. 2 (fall 1983) was followed by vol. 12 no. 4 (June 1985), which was followed by vol. 15 no. 2 (fall 1996) and then by vol. 16 no. 1 (spring 1987). Issues may (or may not) have been published between fall 1983 and June 1985, designated as vol. 13 and vol. 14. Issues were designated only by month and year beginning with the July 1997 issue.
