Reproduced from typescript (spirit duplication). The document entitled, "Family records," is a collection of family histories published by various authors, and compiled in 1961-1962.
Focus is on the descendants of George Stewart, who was born in North Carolina to Charles and Johannah Kirk Stewart. His ancestors came from Scotland, and settled in North Carolina and Virginia. George lived in Cumberland County, North Carolina. In 1789, he married Rebecca Utley, daughter of John Utley and Mary Cook, in Wake County, North Carolina. George and Rebecca had nine children: James, John, George Jr., Edith, William, Mary or Polly, Isaiah, Charles, and Nancy. George's will was proved in 1831 in Cumberland County, North Carolina. Rebecca died in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. One son, George Jr. (1796-1846) married Ruth Baker (1807-1871) of Clark County, Georgia. They had ten children born between 1823-1845. Their family migrated to Dallas County, Missouri, between 1841 and 1845. George, Jr. died in Dallas County. Ruth died at Ogden, Utah. A later descendant was William Anderson Stewart (b. 1830) of Tuscaloosa County, Alabama,, who married Jane Neel Browning in 1853, and Cynthia Phylinda Terry in 1869. Descendants of George and Rebecca Stewart also lived in Alabama, California, Delaware, Georgia, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, North Carolina, Utah, and elsewhere.
