Civil registration of births, marriages, deaths.
Puente Alto fue fundada como un pequeño pueblo rural a fines del siglo XIX con el nombre de Las Arañas. En noviembre de 1892, se crea la Municipalidad de Puente Alto con las subdelegaciones de Puente Nuevo de Pirque, Lo Cañas y El Peral, como parte del antiguo Departamento de La Victoria. A fines de 1927, el Departamento de La Victoria fue suprimido pasando a ser parte, con todas sus localidades, del Departamento de Santiago, manteniéndose así la comuna de Puente Alto con las subdelegaciones de Puente Nuevo de Pirque y El Peral solamente. En 1958 se crea el Departamento de Puente Alto con las comunas de Puente Alto, San José de Maipo y Pirque, segregándose del Departamento de Santiago. En 1979 se suprimen los departamentos y las comunas de Puente Alto, San José de Maipo y Pirque pasan a formar parte de la nueva Provincia de Cordillera.
