Garrett Benson, Sr. was born in 1805 in New Jersey. He and his wife, Sophia (1715-1872), had at least two children. He died in 1878 at Martinsburg, West Virginia. His daughter, Mary E. Benson, married George Washington Miller in 1851.
John Burns and Frances Southworth were married in Berkeley County, Virginia, in 1794. Their son, John Burns, was born in 1804 in Berkeley County, Virginia, now West Virginia. He married Eliza Collis or Collins (1818-1909) in 1841 in Berkeley County. They had six children, 1842-1850. Their son, John Burns, Jr. (1844-1919), served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He was a farmer in the Arden District, Martinsburg, West Virginia. He married 1) Mary Strump (1847-1875) in 1866. They had four children, 1847-1872. He married 2) Rebecca Garrett (1853-1884) in 1875. They had four children, 1875-1882. His daughter, Mazie R. Burns (1882-1932) married Howard Miller (1879-1971) in 1902. She died at Butler, Pennsylvania.
Samuel Miller and Maria (Mary) Bedinger were married in Berkeley County, Virginia, in 1816. They had at least three children. Their son, George Washington Miller, was born in 1825. He married Mary Elizabeth Davis, in 1851 in Berkely County, Virginia. They had six children, 1855-1868.
Richard Garrett was born in 1812 in Derbyshire, England. He and his wife, Sarah Bates (1811-1879), had eight children, 1834-1857. The family emigrated from Derbyshire and settled in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, in 1848. They migrated to Berkeley County, West Virginia, in 1867. Richard Garrett migrated to Kansas after his wife's death. His daughter, Rebecca (1853-1884) married John Burns, Jr. His son, George Garrett (b. 1834) married Sarah E. Smurr in 1873 in Berkeley County, West Virginia. They had five children, 1874-1875.
