"In 1904 the 'Proceedings of the Loyalist Commissioners, 1785-1787', deposited in the Library of Congress among the Smithsonian Collection, was transcribed and published by the Archives of Ontario as its Second Report."--Introd. to the microfiche.
Two commissioners were sent from London to British North America to receive claims from Loyalists living in eastern Canada. "Evidence was taken at Halifax, St. John, Quebec and Montreal, and six reports were made, showing that 1401 claims were heard ..."--p. 20.
Contains "United Empire Loyalists : enquiry into the losses and services in consequence of their loyalty : evidence in the Canadian claims".
The "documents herewith presented come within the period from 1763 to 1791 ..."--Pref.
