Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Vandal (and variant spellings) and their related families. Many came from Belgium, England, France, Germany, Holland, Norway, Prussia, and Switzerland. Others were American Indians, some with Shawnee bloodlines. Some settled in New Jersey, Vermont, Virginia, and Washington D.C. in the 1700s. Others left France to settle in Quebec (Canada), then moved to Connecticut. One ancestor, Evert Janse Wendell (1615-1709) married Susanna Du Trieux (1626-1660), and settled in 1642 in Montgomery, New Amsterdam, New York. Focus is on (but not limited to) descendants of their great, great grandson, Abraham Vandal (1758-1848) who married Mary Dillon (1763-1840) at Rockbridge, Virginia in 1780. They made their home at Vandal's Mountain, which was later known as Fork Mountain, in Fayette County, West Virginia. In 1818, Abraham founded the town of Vandalia, West Virginia. In 1837, the town was renamed Fayetteville. Abraham and Mary are buried at the Vandal - Westlake Cemetery in Anstead, Fayette County. During the 1800s, some Vandals moved to California, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Indian Territory, and West Virginia. Later descendants also lived in Canada, Greece, and in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, Wyoming, and elsewhere.

1990 Supplement includes Vandal related families. Section 1 is alphabetical marriages filed by wife's maiden name. Section 2 is alphabetical marriages filed by husband's name.

The Mayor of the Town of Fayetteville, West Virginia proclaimed May 27th as Vandall Day, in honor of Abraham Vandal founding their town in 1818. It was earlier called Vandalia, but the town's name was changed to Fayetteville in 1837.

Quarterly, published in July, October, January, and April.

Numbering skips & repeats: Vol. 9 issue 1 (July 2003) was followed by vol. 10 issue 2 (Oct 2003). Designations vol. 9 issues 2-4 were never used. Issues continued with vol. 10 issue 3 (Jan 2004), vol. 10 issue 4 (Apr 2004), vol. 10 issue 5 (July 2004), vol. 10 issue 6 (Oct 2004), vol. 10 issue 7 (Jan 2005), vol. 10 issue 8 (Apr 2005), then repeats with vol. 10 issue 1 (July 2005), vol. 10 issue 2 (Oct 2005), vol. 10 issue 3 (Jan. 2006), vol. 10 no. 4 (Apr 2006), vol. 10 no. 5 (July 2006), and vol. 10 no. 6 (Oct 2006).

Vols. 1-2 each have 12 quarterly issues published over 4 years; each volume thereafter has 8 quarterly issues published over 3 years.
