The church was originally called the Vernon Center Methodist Episcopal Church and covered the southwestern corner of Blue Earth County. The Amboy Methodist Church and the Garden City Methodist Episcopal Church were later organized from the Vernon Center Church. In 1923 the Garden City Church was disbanded and its properties sold. The Vernon Center Church later became known as the Grace Methodist Church.
