Elijah Newton McDaniel (1837-1906) was born in Lawrence County, Alabama. He married Ann Hodges (1846-1927), daughter of Daniel Merritt Hodges (1809-1883) and Nancy Ann Hodges (1811-1848), at the home of her father at Moulton, Alabama, in 1863. They had twelve children, 1864-1888. The family moved to Texas in the early 1890s. Descendants listed lived in Texas, Arkansas, and elsewhere.
Includes other ancestral families of the author's late husband, John Preuit McDaniel (1886-1944) of Houston, Texas. Ancestors include: Williams Hodges (1754-1843) of England, Virginia, and Lawrence County, Alabama; James Leeper (1780-1848) of Lawrence County, Alabama; Henry Puet (b. ca. 1654) of Henrico County, Virginia; and Moses Cavett (d. 1802) of Knox County, Tennessee.
Also includes information about other McDaniel families.
