Change the person of focus in First Ancestor view

The person of focus is the person the family tree branches out from. You can easily change the person of focus on Family Tree’s First Ancestor view from a person’s pop-up menu.

Changing the person of focus makes it easier to do extensive history work for a certain section of your family tree. You can add a new first ancestor for anyone who is listed as the person of focus.

Note: To see who the person of focus is, click the Options icon , and see who is listed under the Person of Focus section.

Steps

  1. In the top menu, click Family Tree, and then click Tree.
  2. Find the person that you want to make the person of focus.  
  3. Click the name.
  4. In the side sheet, click View Tree.
  5. They are now the person of focus. You can click the “+” icon to the right above their picture to add a first ancestor.
  6. To change yourself back to the person of focus, click the Home icon in the top right.
