Thank you for the update.
Hi there, this sounds amazing, however does your Church not have members and community on Mauritius
There seem to be nothing, other than the the records I have added?
There are many microfiche records of births deaths and marriages in Mauritius, all available on Family Search Catalog – Search -“Mauritius” and all the available records will show.
Why no records for Namibia?
Will we get new records from Germany and from Poland ( Prussia) ?
Os registros paroquiais das Igrejas de Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, não recebem atualizações há mais de 05 anos. Alguns são os mesmos desde 2012…
Thank you for the update…can’t wait to use them.
Thank you very much for the update. I have been accessing geneological records from this site and LDS family history centres for a very long time and appreciate all the marvellous work that you folks have done. Thank you.
Why is it now so confusing to access historic census reports in family search org, what precipitated this particular change.
Mike
Can you please clarify the question? We would love to help.
The marriage date of my grandparents; i.e., Sylvester Vance and Sarah Frances Morral was not 1901 at Mingo, WV. This is another Sylvester Vance. My grandparents were married 19 January 1888 in Pendleton County, WV. Sarah Frances Morral was 17 and Sylvester Vance was 27. I knew him personally, he died in 1940, she died in 1934 when I was a baby.
I would love to know when and if you will be able to retrieve births, marriages and deaths information from Rhodesia now know as Zimbabwe as well as South Africa. Looking forward to your reply
sorry about my name coming up so weird
We have records from Zimbabwe that you can search through on this research page. Hope you find what you are looking for!
There are records for Zimbabwe and for South Africa as well. You will find them by using the Catalog.
You may not find everything you want but there are lots and it depends what part of the country you are looking for. They were microfilmed years ago and now many are being converted from microfilm format into a digital format so that you can read them while in your home or elsewhere, using the internet.
Go to the Catalog. It’s found beneath SEARCH at the top of the FamilySearch screen
When in there search by place name. Put in the name of the country or place
Click on the place that appears and then click on search.
A long list will appear beginning with Archives and going all the way through the alphabet.
Run down the list of items the catalog displays looking for Church Records.
Church records contain marriages, baptisms and burials. If they have been diitized you may be able to view them there and then.
You will also look down the list for Civil Registration. They are the government kept records of births, marriages and deaths for that country, or province or state.
Proceed just like that and explore. Some have been digitized, some haven’t yet.
A roll of microfilm means it isn’t digitized.
A camera means it has and you can go through the whole film.
A camera with a key above it means it can only be viewed at a Family History Centre.
Another way to search is by Keywords. (You’ll notice in the Catalog there are 7 different ways you can search)
So search by Keywords and put in South Africa and see what it comes up with.
Proceed that way for other searches.
Here’s an example of what you can find –
Parish registers, Gereformeerde Kerk, Salisbury (Zimbabwe) – 1913-1978
Christenings 1913-1978 Marriages 1945-1961 Memberships 1925-1976 on microfilm
1687034 Items 3-8
There is a camera icon so the whole film can be viewed.
Hope this helps
