When will Nebraska be available to index? How about Tennessee or Utah? Are states being posted alphabetically or by some other order? A lot of people want to know when the records for a specific state are going to be posted on FamilySearch and on the FamilySearch Indexing site. Each day we get more states posted. We’re hoping to have all of them posted and available for searching and indexing within the next few weeks.
Below is a list of states. They are listed in the order they will be posted on the FamilySearch site. To date, 15 states have been posted, one of which is already completely indexed and will be available for research within the week. Every few days we will publish the status of each state.
Congratulations are in order all of you who are working so hard to index the 1940 US Census. It is amazing to see what we have accomplished so far. We still have many more records to go but we are making remarkable progress. Thanks to all of you for the time and effort you have given so freely. Please let friends and neighbors know what you are doing. Show them how easy it is and help them understand this work makes it possible for everyone to have 100% free access to this great record collection. Go ahead and invite them to get involved and watch how much they enjoy it. They will thank you.
