Larry James Tinker was born on July 26, 1959, in Manchester to Jack and Gladys (Manternach) Tinker. He was raised, educated, and graduated in 1977 from West Delaware Community Schools, where he was a four year letterman in wrestling. He received an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Agriculture Business at Kirkwood Community College. He resided at home for several years and farmed. The past nine years he farmed and lived in Edgewood.
Larry died on Wednesday, October 12, 2005, at his residence in Edgewood after a brief illness. He was forty-six years of age.
Larry is survived by his
parents, Jack and Gladys Tinker of Manchester;
special friend, Linda Jennings of Cedar Rapids;
five siblings,
Sharon Tinker of Houston, Texas,
Gene Tinker of Edgewood,
Randy (Diane) Tinker of Des Moines,
Dennis (Susan) Tinker of Johnston, and
Phyllis Tinker of Ankeny;
four nephews, Logan, Spencer, Jacob and Ben Tinker; and
one niece, Peyton Tinker.
Larry was preceded in death by his
paternal grandparents, Ed and Margaret Tinker; and
his maternal grandparents, Al and Agnes Manternach.

Larry enjoyed farming, hunting, bowling, golfing and good times with friends. He was Secretary Treasurer of Prairie Gold LLC, a weaned pig production facility. He was active in 4-H, FFA, and assisted with Delaware County Hog Shows. He also was a member of the pork producers grill team, he was on the Delaware County Extension Council, he was serving on the Silver Edge Co-op Board of Directors, and various committees for the Iowa Pork Producers Association. Larry was a past mini wrestling coach, past board member and president of the Delaware County Pork Producers, and past Board member of the Greeley Commercial Club. He also received the Iowa Farmer Degree and was a master pork producer.
