| Tanzania is located in East Africa and includes the islands of Mafia, Pemba and Zanzibar. It is bound by Democratic Republic of the Congo (Zaire), Burundi and Rwanda to the west, Zambia to the southwest, Uganda to the northwest, Kenya to the northeast, Malawi and Mozambique to the south and the Indian Ocean to the east.
