Vital Records - Birth

Playing with the developement of a birth table for Pulaski co.

The idea behind the table is to solve a problem for the beginning/intermediate skill level patron quickly and precisely. It is not to be reflective of all resources, nor is it intended to train the patron in every concievable record alternative. It is tended to solve the majority of a patrons problems efficiently as possible. It is also designed to be very county specific and flexible---although the alternatives will often be the same, the order of recommendation will vary depending on the time frame, ethiniticity (aagh, can't spell) and religious affiliation of the majority of county residents; and whether the record type being linked to on the county page has any "problem solving content" in it. Having said that, the order of alternatives and/or recommended collections will have the potential for updating as more collections are digitalized and content written.

  Table is too long to fit in average open browser.....reduce alternatives length?.... ie: take out church rec link in 1800-1852 section since it such a lame resource for this county---suppose some may think writter is lame not to even have church rec listed---but I think we have to go with what is most helpful for THIS county; not what would be most helpful statistically speaking for a state or national page on alternatives
  

1800-1852 "Alternative/Support col" thoughts:

In this county nearly all the early settlers were baptist and early church records do NOT yield much in the way of birth, so it is judged that the "Church rec" link (to church rec on Pulaski co page) should be of low priority. In Pulaski co a great deal of compiled research reflecting patrons family records containing early birth dates is reflected in the surname vertical files of Pulaski county Kentucky so a "Genealogy" link to Pulaski co genealogy section was deemed the best alternative.  Bible records was selected as 2nd as the wiki Bible rec section only links to a handful of sources at this time.

1852 - 1859 Thoughts:

Ancestry's collection of "Kentucky Birth Records, 1852-1910" with it's index and images is hands down the best resource, however it requires a fee so FS "Kentucky BIrths and Christenings, 1839-1960" (index only) was also presented in best resources. This meant in the Support Resources column a min cost to rent FHL film presented. Pulaski Co Hist Soc publication was also included as it may be free via librarires and because it's thorough whereas the FS collection throughness is unknown.

In theory, the 1860 Fed Cen should be a lame alternative given the other resources, but was included as an Idea to pick up an ancestor who was non-compliant.

1877 births -Pulaski County, Kentucky Vital Statistics: Births 1852-1859, 1861, 1874-1878; Deaths 1852-1859, 1861, 1874-1875-1876-1878 (Somerset, Ky. : Pulaski County Historical Society, 1983) by Pulaski County Historical Society [FHL doesn't have a copy]----Does it really have 1877 births in it like title suggests?? If so, bonds or lic or??  Ancestry's collection doesn't have 1877.

"Kentucky Birth Records, 1852-1910" Ancestry $ claims to have 1863 & 1867 births, but when you click Pulaski county then 1863 it takes you to the 1853 section of images. Problem reported to ancestry. This is being mentioned because if a table of Pulaski county births were to be created, organized by dates, evidence still suggests (supported by Pulaski County Historical Soc publ) no records are extant from 1863.
