Queensland
Queensland was originally settled by Europeans in the 1820s as a convict settlement as an extension of the Colony of New South Wales. It became an independent colony in 1859. Therefore early genealogy records for Queensland may be found in New South Wales records, but often those New South Wales records pertaining to areas ultimately part of Queensland have been copied and can be found within Queensland records as well.

The capital of Queeensland is Brisbane.
