Immigration

During the War of 1812, American officials reported finding 2 British aliens, some of whom had families, living in Fayetteville and Lincoln County.^[7]

Vital Records

Marriage

The original Lincoln County marriage records are kept at the County Courthouse. Marriages were not officially recorded in Lincoln County until 1838, when a law was passed mandating the practice.^[9] The following publication, based on early newspapers, helps to alleviate this genealogical obstacle:

It publishes The Middle Tennessee Journal of Genealogy and History, a quarterly containing articles of genealogical and historical interest.
