Parish History

Lancaster Priory (Lancaster St Mary) is an Ancient Parish and a market town in the county of Lancashire.

Other places in the parish include: Hays Haw Fell, Hawthornthwaite Vaschery, Heaton with Oxcliffe, Lee Fell, Lentworth Vaschery, Marshaw Fell, Myerscough, Ortner Vaschery, Oxcliffe, Pilling Lane, Scotforth, Stodday, Thurnham, Torrisholme, Abbeystead, Aldcliffe, Ashton, Ashton with Stodday, Bare, Bulk, Catshaw Vaschery, Dunkenshaw Fell, Emmetts Vaschery, Fulwood, Green Vaschery, Hackensall, and Heaton.

Lancaster Priory, otherwise St Mary's Church, Lancaster, is the parish church of the city of Lancaster, It is located near Lancaster Castle and is a Grade I listed building.The modern parish is in the deanery of Lancaster, the archdeaconry of Lancaster and the diocese of Blackburn. Its benefice is combined with that of St John and St Anne.
