FIRE DOES DAMAGE
EUREKA, Cal., Sept. 6. -- Damage estimated at - $60,000 was done and a fireman was severely hurt in two separate fires here today, one destroying three business buildings and the other destroying the clock tower on the county courthouse.
Nevada State Journal, Reno, NV 7 Sept 1924
On September 7, 1924, [sic] a painter's blowtorch set the courthouse tower afire. The blaze was extinguished and the tower saved. ... The tower survived ...but was later dismantled for safety reasons in 1950.... the courthouse was ... demolished in 1956.
