The county is named after U.S. Attorney General Felix Grundy (1777-1840).[3]

Marriage
The original Grundy County marriage records are kept at the County Courthouse. Because of fire, marriages are lost in Grundy County until April 1850. The following publications, based on early newspapers, helps to alleviate this genealogical obstacle:
