General InformationWas part of the Nueva Andalucía province until 1762 when the province of Guayana was created. From 1777 it was part of the Capitanía General de Venezuela. In 1821 it became part of Departamento del Orinoco of the República de Colombia, formed by Barinas, Apure, y Guayana; when Venezuela separates from Nueva Granada, Guayana recovers its status of a Venezuelan province.
