15 October 1778: Established as a town, (Province Laws, Vol. V, p. 909)
Archiac name: East Hoosuck Plantation, Fort Massachusetts, New Providence Plantation, Plantation Number One.
Section/Villages within the town: Bowen's Corner, Cheshire Harbor, Maple Grove, Arnoldsville Renfrew, Siggsville, Zylomte (formerly Howlands)
Boundary Changes [1]
10 April 1780: The plantation called "New Providence" annexed.
14 March 1793: Part included in the new town of Cheshire.
16 April 1878: Part included in the new town of North Adams.
