  • Alecs Butte, 45°19′13″N 123°11′04″W / 45.3203929°N 123.1845510°W / 45.3203929; -123.1845510 (Alecs Butte), Named for Alexander Carson, generally known as Alec Carson, sometimes called Essen, well-known hunter and trapper in very early days, a member of Wilson Prce Hunt's party traveling west in 1810 for a time, appeared to have been trapping in the Willamette Valley. Part of Peter Skene Ogden's brigade trapped the Snake country in 1824-1825. Killed by the Indians at the small hill now known as Alecs Butte in 1826. The butte was part of Willam Fryer farm in 1944.
