History of the parish
Wexel parish was established in 1916. An area bordered by Aker river from Hausmann's bridge to Ny bridge, Trondheimsveien, Herslebs gate, Lakkegata, Heimdalsgata, Motzfeldts gate, Grønland and Lakkegata to Hausmann's bridge was taken from Grønland parish. The parish was formally put back into Grønland parish in 1929, but at the same time it was required that all the church actions should take place in Vaterland chapelry.
In 1959 the Vaterland chapelry was discontinued. The borders between Domkirken, Jakob and Grønland parishes were redefined.
The church books for Wexel parish were given to the parish offices in Grønland parish and were kept separate from Grønland's church books.
