Template documentationUse this {{NYOnlineProbate}} template on New York County pages which have probate records available on Historical Records under the title New York, Probate Records, 1629-1971.
Note: At least three New York counties have probate records which are not listed under the title cited above, and therefore, do not use this template:
- Brooklyn, New York - that is Kings (Brooklyn) County, New York
- Orange County, New York
- Queens County, New York
Use different wording to cite Historical Records for such exceptional counties.
The template looks like this:
Online Probate Records
Original county-by-county New York, Probate Records, 1629-1971 are available free online at FamilySearch. To access these records, click Historical Records below, then click "Browse through 1,630,900 images". Then select the county name, and then the probate records and time of interest.
