Template:Caption/docEdit This Page

This is a documentation subpage for Template:Caption (see that page for the template itself). It contains usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page.

This template has been created to use as a workaround a known issue relating to the Rich Text Editor which will remove caption text from images.

Usage

The standard code to add an image is

 [[File:{file_name}|{options}|caption text]]

Using this code, once a page is edited by contributor using the Rich Text Editor, the caption text is removed.

To work around this issue use this template inside the code for the image

 [[File:{file_name}|{options}|{{caption|caption text}}]]
