Talk:User group meeting & agenda 22 October 2008Edit This Page

- I found a couple of policy articles on Wikipedia of relevance: External links, Dead external links. They discuss a couple of things when someone finds a dead link: users inserting Template:Dead link or running a bot. The problem with the template is that it requires a user to edit an article when they find it contains a dead link. The templates adds formatted text as well as Category:All articles with dead external links. The problem with the bots is that it takes FOREVER on the English version of Wikipedia. 'Printable Version' does not work properly in new skin scheme
Just tried to get a printed version of an article, and when it printed it still gave me all the header, sidebar, and footer stuff that used to not appear when you printed things out using the 'printable version' link in the sidebar.
But now all the header and footer stuff, plus some things that appear on the FamilySearch homepage, also appear before the actual article. In fact, the header stuff filled most of the page, and only near the bottom did the article title and body start to appear, the footer was also an additional page, and I didn't expect anything else but the copyright notice and a couple of other things, but all the sidebar items appeared in the printout. - As I recall, this was discussed in the previous meeting and the designer said he would be working on it as much of that should not be on the printable view. Thomas Lerman 02:55, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
I printed in both views so that we could see what the hard copy looks like both ways given the issue. That should help them get an idea of what is happening and that may help them fix the problem. I brought the printouts to the user group meeting today. JamesAnderson 19:29, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

That is all I ever get after editing or even adding new contents. Did something get broken between last week and today? I had to hit "Show preview" every time this happens. dsammy 21:03, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
Watchlist notification is BROKE
In the forums, http://forums.familysearchsupport.org/showthread.php?t=456, it is discussed about the e-mail notifications being broke. We found that it will notify only once and not again unless the page is visited after you log on. We may discuss how to tell when a page has been modified since your last visit to that page. Interested? Thomas Lerman 06:17, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
