Parish History

RUNCORN (St. Bartholomew), is a sea-port and parish, and the head of a union, in the hundred of Bucklow, the Northern division of the county of Chester; it is 9 miles (S. W. by W.) from Warrington, and 12 miles  (E. S. E.) from Liverpool.

The parish includes the chapelries of Aston-by-Sutton, Daresbury, Halton, and Thelwall; and the townships of Acton-Grange, Aston-Grange, Clifton, Hatton,Keckwick, Moore, Newton-by-Daresbury, Norton, Prestonon-the-Hill, Stockham, Sutton, Walton Inferior and Superior, and Weston. ^[1]

Runcorn Weston St John is an Ecclesiastical Parish in the county of Cheshire, created in 1842 from  Runcorn, Cheshire Ancient Parish.

St John the Evangelist's Church, Weston is in Weston, once a separate village and now part of the town of Runcorn, Cheshire, England. The church is a Grade II* listed building. It is an active Anglican parish church in the diocese of Chester, the archdeaconry of Chester and the deanery of Frodsham

The church was built between 1897 and 1898 to a design by Douglas and Fordham at a cost of over £5,000 (£410 thousand as of 2010). St John's became a separate parish in 1931.
