Gazetteers
The The Gemeindelexikon für das Königreich Preussen is now also available online at Ancestry.com. You can find it by clicking on the Search Tab and choosing the Card Catalog option. Type in the title/or part of the title, and it will appear on the right sidebar. Choose the volume for the area of interest. These gazetteers are available for each of the Prussian provinces, including Hessen-Nassau. They are also available at the Family History Library in book format or film format.
An online gazetteer is available for Hessen-Nassau at http://www.progenealogists.com/germany/hesse/hessnasA.htm . This gazetteer includes the town, the Kreis, Catholic and Evangelical parish location.
A useful series of books authored by Kevan M. Hansen: Map Guide to German Parish Registers, Hessen-Nassau is available at the Family History Library and also at other libraries, such as at Fort Wayne, Indiana, which have German genealogical holdings. This series of books lists all the villages, their respective parishes and shows maps as to where each of the parishes is located in relation to one another.
