Known cemeteries in Ontario are listed in:
Ronnow, Verna, ed. Inventory of Cemeteries in Ontario. Toronto, Ontario: Ontario Genealogical Society, 1987. (Family History Library book 971.3 V34i; fiche 6111034 and 6111139.)
For tombstone inscriptions from more than half of the 4,000 cemeteries in Ontario, see booklets published by branches of the Ontario Genealogical Society and other organizations. See also the magazines in Ontario Periodicals.
The Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid website has a free, searchable database of over 2 million burials in Ontario. It can be searched by name, cemetery, county and town, but its references do not include dates of death. Although it does not include any gravestone inscriptions, it can be used to locate graves in Ontario.
The Ontario Genealogical Society has transcribed monuments, cemetery records and other records and have placed them in an index entitled the Ontario Cemetery Ancestory Index. There is also a Cemetery Locator. The Ontario Name Index (TONI) searches mutliple databases on the Ontario Genealogical Society website. "As TONI grows, it will incorporate the information currently in the Ontario Cemetery Ancestor Index. But for now, remember to check both indices for your elusive relatives. And remember to come back as both databases receive frequent updates." See the OGS website for additional information.
GraveMarkers site has photographs of some cemeteries. They are listed by County and Town.
The Canadian Gravemarker Gallery (formerly the Northern Ontario Canada Gravemarker Gallery) has been expanding its coverage of Ontario cemeteries. This website includes photographs of gravestones and inscriptions.
The Ontario section of Canada GenWeb has a similar project which has increased its coverage greatly over the summer of 2012.
