Record Description

This collection contains records from 1960 to 2012.

This collection contains citizenship and naturalization records from the district court in Banjarnegara. This collection is being published as images become available.

Immigration to Indonesia was in practice since the ancient era. The early phase of Indonesia Immigration started when fishermen of Indonesia migrated to the neighboring islands.

The main immigration of Indonesia took place in the nineteenth century when people of Indonesia were sent to Australia for working in the pearl and sugarcane industries. Most of them had to return after World War II, but few of them managed to stay back.

From the 1870s Indonesians were recruited to work in the pearling and sugar cane industries in northern Australia. Around 1,000 Indonesians were living in Australia by Federation, almost all in Queensland and Western Australia. With the introduction of the White Australia Policy in 1901, most sugar workers returned to Indonesia, although some pearl divers remained. Few settled in Victoria, and those who did were probably Dutch Indonesians – the Netherlands had controlled the Indonesian archipelago since the 19th century.

  • Bride's religion, occupation, residency and marital status
  • Complete name and age of Guardian of Marriage
  • Guardian's occupation, religion, residency and relationship

How to Use the Record

To begin your search in the naturalization records, it would be helpful if you knew the following information:

  • Name of ancestor
  • Place of last residence
  • Approximate year of immigration

To begin your search in the marriage records, it would be helpful if you knew the following information:

  • Names of bride or groom
  • Approximate year of marriage
  • Place of marriage

Search the Collection

To search the collection image by image select "Browse through images" on the initial collection page:
⇒Select the appropriate “Record Type”
⇒Select the appropriate “Year and Number(s)” which will take you to the images.

Look at the images one by one comparing the information with what you already know about your ancestors to determine if the image relates to them. You may need to look at several images and compare the information about the individuals listed in those images to your ancestors to make this determination.
