Quick Facts
Hunstville spreads out in the beautiful Ogden Valley in Weber County. In the fall of 1860 seven families went into the valley to make a permanent settlement. The settlers consisted of Jefferson Hunt and his family along with 5 more families. They valley was home to Little Soldier and other Shoshone Indians helped themselves to the settler’s stock and other various things to irritate the newcomers. Using the advice of Brigham Young to "feed rather than fight the Indians" the little group paid an annual tax of beef, flour and vegetables to keep the peace. The first settlement was known as Hawkin’s Grove. [1] In 1861 more settlers moved into the valley, the town was laid out and called “Huntsville”. Many Danish converts immigrated from Denmark in 1864. Scottish converts also made the Ogden Valley home. 1903 was the year Huntsville was incorporated.City Hall
