History
In 1862 gold was discovered in the Boise Basin Mountains near Idaho City. The town’s first name was Warrinersville the site was a staging area for the early gold miner’s. The miners would stay in tents until the snow would melt in the mountains. Then they could go up in the mountains to look for the gold. When most of the gold was gone they changed the towns name to Horseshoe Bend, because of the bend in the Payette River. In 1913, the railroad made its way from Emmett alongside the Payette River. The Thunder Mountain Line, a scenic railroad, has its main terminal in Horseshoe Bend.
