FamilySearch Wiki talk:Adding References or Links to Books for SaleEdit This Page
From FamilySearch Wiki
When editing the Germany Maps section, I was surprised to find full contact information for a commercial book seller on this page. In the past, this company was the only North America- based vendor of a particular German atlas we like to use in the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. My guess is that's why the information was included on this page.
However, in the past number of years both historical and modern maps of Germany have become freely available on the Internet. In my opinion, links to these resources would serve users better, especially in a global sense. It seems to me that the FamilySearchWiki should, as a rule, not provide individual book vendor information, as this can be viewed as endorsing commercial entities. Of course there may be exceptions, such as for items that are very hard to find.
I would love to hear other points of view.
