If contributors cannot resolve an editing conflict through talk page discussions, they can seek the assistance of third persons to resolve the conflict. Seeking help from other is a component of the Wiki content-dispute resolution process. Prior to engaging in Formal Mediation, the parties to an editing conflict are required to seek imformal help from third parties to resolve the conflict. 

The best form of third-party assistance may depend upon the nature of the conflict. If an editing conflict involves editorial judgment or stylistic or formatting issues, the parties may want to Request contributor assistance.  If the editing conflict involves a substantive or factual dispute, the parties may want to post a question on a Wiki forum.

If an editing conflict potentially affects more than one Wiki article, the views the broader Wiki community should be sought.  Views can be sought through a posting on a Wiki Forum.  Alternatively, a broader conflict might be resolved  by means of a new Wiki Project.
