Example One

(taken from a publication on cemetery records of African Americans)

Content

Cemetery records usually contain:

  • Name of deceased
  • Birth date
  • Death date

Cemetery records sometimes contain:

  • Relationship of the deceased to other family members
  • Occupational information (such as military service)
  • Religion
  • Associations joined (such as a school fraternity, Freemasons, etc.)
  • Parents’ names

Example Two

(taken from a publication on the birth section of Norwegian church records)

Content

  • Child’s name
  • Parents’ names, occupation, and residence (which is also the child’s birthplace)
  • Godparents’ names
  • Birth date
  • Christening (baptism) date
