This category is for island countries in the Pacific Ocean, sometimes called Oceania. It does not include the islands associated with Asia. From the map at the left, Norfolk Island is categorized with Australia, Rapa Nui (Easter Island) with Chile, Hawaii with the United States, and the western half of New Guinea is categorized with Indonesia.

Prefer to push individual Wiki pages and articles down to as local a level as logically possible. For example, if the article is mostly about Polynesia, and relatively little of it applies to other island groups, it is better to categorize it under Polynesia than under the Pacific category.
