Category:American Indian SchoolsEdit This Page
From FamilySearch Wiki
The United States government established hundreds of schools for the Native American population, especially after about 1885. This category was established as a way to navigate to articles about those schools, their history and the location of their records. The American Indian portion of the title of this category is taken from the Library of Congress Authorities file. The term Schools was added to the category name to set that type of record apart from other subjects regarding American Indians.
Some of these schools were also assigned agent duties for a time, and may also be listed under the Category of American Indian Agencies.
