From FamilySearch Wiki
Back to Bremen Page►
Civil registration was introduced in Bremen in 1811 and this form of registering vital statistics was in force until 1876. The information in civil registration is in general more detailed than it is in church books. In the areas surrounding Bremen the pastors kept civil registration parallel to church records. The civil registration records are available through the catalog of FamilySearch and its research centers.
