Parish History

Bicker St Swithun or Swithin is an Ancient parish which includes Frist, Gauntlet, Bicker Friest, and Bicker Gauntlet within its boundaries.

The church is Norman and dates in part from the early 12th century and has been designated as a grade I listed building by English Heritage British Listed building

Both a Wesleyan Methodist and PrimitiveMethodist chapel were built here. The Methodist Church dates from 1908.

The village and civil parish are mainly flat drained fenland and neighbours Donington, Lincolnshire and Swineshead, Lincolnshire The civil parish is one of 18 to form part of Boston Borough since the 1974 local government reorganisation.

BICKER (St. Swithin), a parish, in the union of Boston, wapentake of Kirton, parts of Holland, county of Lincoln, 1½ mile (N. E. by N.) from Donnington. There is a place of worship for Wesleyans. [1]
