Brief History
The Kittanning Regiment was so named because it was headquartered in Kittanning, Pennsylvania. Organized from 15 July to 15 September 1776 at Kittanning, Pennsylvania in the western part of the state to consist of eight companies of infantry from Bedford (included present-day Fulton and Somerset counties), Cumberland, Westmoreland (included present-day Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Fayette, Greene, Washington) counties.[1][2]
