Brief History

Organized at New York City and mustered in at Washington, D. C., October 4, 1862.^[1] They were known as or became part of the Second Regiment, Empire, Spinola's, Brigade; and the  Hillhouse Light Infantry.^[2]

Duty at Salsbury, N. C., till June. Mustered out June 29, 1865. Recruits transferred to 99th New York Infantry.
