International Genealogical Index
Over 600 million names extracted from vital records from throughout the world.

Bible Records
Genealogies and birth, marriage, and death information that has been written in family Bibles. This includes information that has been scanned, copied, or collected from family Bibles.

Cemeteries
Information about burial places, copies of tombstone and monument inscriptions, records of sextons, lists of the buried, information about cemetery landscape and design, and instructions for copying gravestones or taking rubbings. The records may give birth, marriage, death, and family information.

Church Records
Records, documents, or registers kept by Christian religious groups. Church records often list christenings or baptisms, confirmations, marriages, burials, names of members, etc. In many places, especially in earlier times, churches kept the only official records.

Civil Registration
Official records of vital information (births, marriages, and deaths) kept by governments outside the United States and all Canadian provinces except Québec.

Divorce Records
Records documenting the legal end to a marriage. These include divorces, annulments, and marriage dissolution proceedings.

Funeral Homes
Records pertaining to funeral homes or mortuaries including business records, burial expenses, and information about the deceased.

Obituaries
Notices or lists published in newspapers that announce deaths. This topic may include other sources related to obituaries, such as indexes to them. Obituaries often include biographical sketches and may include funeral sermons.

Vital Records
Collections of birth, marriage, and death records. The official governmental records of births, marriages, and deaths in the United States and every Canadian province except Québec are also called vital records. (In other countries and Québec, official government records are called civil registration.)
