Place Search finds catalog entries about a place or about records from a place.
Surname Search finds catalog entries about records that include a specific surname.
Keyword Search finds catalog entries that contain a certain word or combination of words.
Title Search lets you search for catalog entries by title.
Film/Fiche Search lists the contents of a specific microfilm or microfiche.
Author Search finds catalog entries by or about a person, church, society, government agency, and so forth.
Subject Search finds catalog entries by the name of the subjects that the records are about. (Note: Use the Surname Search to find surnames listed as subjects and the Place Search to find places listed as subjects.)
Call Number Search finds catalog entries by the number used to locate books and other items on the Family History Library's shelves.
