What Is a Family History Center?

Family history centers are facilities sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that provide research support for people interested in identifying their ancestors. These centers also provide local access to microfilmed family history records and, where available, Church family history computer programs.

Family history centers are usually in local Latter-day Saint meetinghouses and are staffed by volunteers. Centers are available worldwide. A list of center locations is available from the Family History Library or on the Internet. The list on the Internet also provides the center's hours of operation.
